So recently I read that 60% of men would say no to their partner if they asked them to marry them, believing it the role of a man. I found this not only incredibly high but crazy! As many are aware, 2020 is a leap year, thus giving women the power to propose on the 29th February. And there is a lot of history behind it.
Apparently, as history tells, this nun called St Bridget had decided women were waiting too long for their other half to pop the big question and had enough, so she had a word with St Patrick about it. They made a deal that on the leap year, a woman could propose to a man. If he refused, he owed you a gift such as 12 pairs of gloves or a new dress as a penalty (because obviously some gloves make up for the whole saying no).
Now back to the 21st century, and it is more common than you think. And not just on a leap year, but all year round. Even famous female names have gotten down on one knee with Kirsten Bell (Frozen, The Good Place) asking Dax Shephard (The Ranch, Idiocracy), P!nk asking motocross star Carey Hart, and even Judge Judy and Elizabeth Taylor asking their respective partners.
So I say, if you know deep down in your heart that they are the one you want to spend your life with, why not surprise him. And if you do, let me know! I love a good proposal story!
